Senior Architect for Functional Safety (m/f) Job Description

The BMW Group is taking the lead in highly automated and fully automated driving. We are offering an exciting
opportunity as a Senior Architect (f/m) for Functional Safety (FuSi) in the area of autonomous driving. Your activities will range from the design of interdepartmental safety concepts to FuSi-compliant partitioning of the electric/electronic (E/E) architecture and validation concepts across process chains.

In close collaboration with specialist departments, you will develop future-oriented E/E architecture concepts for fulfilling Automotive Safety Integrity Level (ASIL) requirements for functions that constitute the cutting edge of autonomous driving at the BMW Group. Your tasks will include:

• The analysis of the optimum ASIL utilisation of available hardwareplatforms and strategically orientating future integration platforms for quick integration of automated driving functions.
• A further responsibility will be to assess technical safety concepts of suppliers together with the internal FuSi specialist departments.
• Your range of tasks will be rounded off by the coordination and implementation of FuSi-relevant aspects in terms of deadlines and maturity levels, the monitoring of project progress and reporting on project status.

Senior Architect for Functional Safety (m/f) Job Requirements

You should have:

• University degree in electrical engineering or computer science, or a comparable qualification.
• In-depth professional experience in the field of functional safety (ISO 26262).
• Experience in the design of automotive E/E architectures and hardware and embedded software development.
• Solid knowledge of methodology and processes in development (e.g. requirements, quality and risk management).
• Business-fluent English, German would be an advantage.
• Independent and structured approach to work.
• Analytical thinking.
• Teamwork and communication skills.
• Assertiveness and strong negotiation skills.
