Cargill Refined Oils Europe (CROE) focuses on supplying customers with a wide range of high quality vegetable oils solutions. CROE is a pan European Business Unit (BU) with 16 operations spread over 6 different countries. CROE processes a wide selection of different types of vegetable oils and fats for specific applications in the food, feed, technical and energy segment.
Description:
Location: Rotterdam Botlek
The purpose of the position is to lead the day to day operation of the tropical oil refinery in Rotterdam and to supervise the production shifts (approximately 40 fte). The refinery consists of 5 refinery lines, 3 fractionation units, 6 hydrogenation units and a blending facility.
Accountabilities:
Operational:
- Organize, plan, lead and control the production processes on a daily basis in terms of safety, food safety, environment, product quality and quantity, customer satisfaction, timely delivery and costs;
- ensure compliance with all regulations, policies and procedures related to safety, food safety, environment, quality, etc. (e.g. HACCP, ISO 9002, GMP);
- chair and/or participate during daily production meetings;
- develop and/or review working and operating procedures;
- communicate with other departments (i.e. forwarding, logistics, commercial department);
- plan and monitor shutdowns in cooperation with the turnaround supervisor;
- implement HR structures and systems to guarantee the quality and quantity of the current and future workforce;
- ensure availability of consumable supplies to ensure a safe and efficient operation;
- risk management (safety, process safety, environment, business interruptions, etc);
- participate during safety, environmental and food safety audits;
- conduct regular workplace inspections;
- participate in waste minimization program;
- first back-up of the turnaround supervisor;
- participate in the call out system for operations.
People management:- Coach a team of 40 production professionals (shift supervisors and process operators);
- management of external contractors during e.g. cleaning work;
- organize proper training on job tasks and correct operation of equipment (including reinforcement and reinstruction);
- maintain employee morale, productive workforce, and business unit and company expectations;
- participate in selection of new operators and/or contractors.
Financial responsibilities:Develop, monitor and manage the annual production budget including balanced score card kpi’s;

Qualifications and skills:
- A master or bachelor degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, bio-chemical engineering, electrical engineering (or similar);
- At least 5 years experience in an operational/production environment;
- proven leadership skills;
- excellent interpersonal skills;
- knowledge of country and local regulations;
- knowledge of systems like ISO, GMP, RCM, hazop.
- good at prioritizing and meeting challenging deadlines;
- able to make tough decisions
- getting things done mentality;
- fluent in Dutch and English.
