Abbott Medical Optics (115 employees) is the Center of Excellence for innovative solutions for the surgical ophthalmic market, mainly intraocular lenses (IOL). Our products are developed, designed, prepared for and taken into manufacturing all in one location. The organization is divided into 5 core teams that generally work on a project basis, according to strong quality guidelines, in an international environment. Due to strong product innovations (such as Tecnis Toric, Tecnis Symfony) and an increased number of projects, the organization is enjoying a strong and healthy growth.
For this strong and ambitious organization we are looking for a highly experienced and senior Manager Product Process Development who can help further develop the organizations’ plans and projects for the future. This position is part of our Management Team
Major accountabilities:
- Responsible for all activities regarding the development, optimization and implementation of new and existing manufacturing processes and methods with a focus on high precision technology. Next to that, also responsible for all activities regarding design, production and installation of necessary equipment that is needed for continuous improvement of the manufacturing process. These responsibilities also include the support of our sister manufacturing sites in Puerto Rico and Malaysia.
- Management of the team, consisting of approximately 20 highly educated professionals. Liaising between the demands of the team and the organizational demands, and making sure optimal solutions are found.. Managing conflicting priority situations.
- Participate in site management and make sure the organizational goals and policies are met. Including a role in long term planning and organizational development discussions. Responsible for the department budget as well as HR related team management tasks.
- Has a helicopter view regarding all projects and process changes; this involves multidisciplinary projects within an international matrix environment. Strong focus on overseeing internal processes and stakeholder management.
- Ensure compliance with GMP regulations, policies and safeguards Abbott government regulation.
- Communication and coordination of efforts with external parties.
Manager Product Process Development Job Requirements
Educational background:
- Completed Bachelor or Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Process Technology or Chemical Technology (or equivalent)
- 8 - 10 years of relevant work experience, preferably in the medical devices industry and in R&D
- Lean/ 6 sigma trained or certified, preferably Black Belt
- Experienced in program/project management and proven results in accomplishing technical projects in a matrix organisation
- Excellent command of the Dutch and English; verbal and written.
Competences:- Flexible, proactive, team player, analytical thinking, good communication skills, planning skills and customer-oriented. High level of energy and engagement.
- Ability to identify and drive resolution of issues
- Experienced in Managing Professionals
- Demonstrated leadership skills and international work experience
- Politically savvy and able to build relationships within a demanding international matrix environment
The position requires willingness to travel
