BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION

Position is responsible for managing the technical aspects of the Residential Security Program including installation, maintenance, troubleshooting all residential security countermeasures and conducting security services. The incumbent monitors residential security equipment inventories and coordinates with procurement for the purchase of supplies and replacement of equipment. S/he also assists the Residential Security Coordinator in overseeing the embassy's residential security program and providing administrative support. The incumbent will travel to and from residences daily; use power tools, cameras and electronic equipment; climb ladders and work in tight places. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific information supporting each item.
EDUCATION: Completion of secondary school (Germany: Realschule, America: American High School Diploma or GED, for all other: 10 years of schooling) is required.
EXPERIENCE: Two years of professional experience in the installation, repair and maintenance of all electronic and residential security countermeasures/equipment/alarms is required.
LANGUAGE: Level III (good working knowledge) German and English reading/speaking/writing language skills are required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of basic security concepts (the use of locks in physical crime prevention, security lighting, installation/maintenance/repair of alarm systems etc.) is required
- Must possess a valid German class B Driver's License
- Must have the ability to assess problems, quickly evaluate emergency situations and develop solutions.
- Must have the ability to coordinate with the Embassy personnel from various offices as well as with security contractors on issues impacting the Embassy and the Consulates.
The Human Resources Office will conduct standard language assessment tests and may test for other required skills as part of the selection process. Testing is conducted equitably and is administered in the same way to all applicants for the particular recruitment.

- Currently employed U.S. citizen EFMs who hold a Family Member Appointment (FMA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first ninety (90) calendar days of their employment. This does not apply to EFMs hired into positions with 'When Actually Employed" (WAE) work schedules.
- Currently employed Not Ordinarily Resident (NOR) employees, hired under a Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first ninety (90) days of their employment unless hired into positions with When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedules.
