Oracle is recruiting a Principal Software Engineer for its Oracle Virtual Machine (OVM) QA group in Dublin Ireland.
Oracle VM Server provides virtualisation solutions for both Oracle and non-Oracle workloads allowing enterprise applications to be easily deployed, managed, and supported. The Oracle VM Server is managed by the Oracle VM Manager which provides a platform on which the virtualised servers are configured and deployed.
The OVM QA team validates and verifies the functionality offered by the OVM Manager and supported virtualisation servers. It ensures the OVM feature and errata releases are functionally complete and ready to meet the demands of external customers including, HCL efforts, as well as Oracle stack testing by internal partners.
The team designs, develops, and executes manual and automate testing of the user and programmable Interfaces. It creates, maintains, automates, and executes the product verification test suites and works closely with OVM development and other internal and external customers who use the OVM solution.
Job Requirements:
Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager in Dublin the successful candidate will be required to work in non-routine and very complex environments involving the application of advanced technical and business skills to define, build and test a range of virtualised configurations. These will comprise a broad set of oracle networking, virtualisation, and storage technologies.
The successful candidate will be a leading contributor both individually and as a team member. They will be expected to provide technical expertise on a wide range of technologies as well as mentor other team members on an as needed basis.
They will also be expected to drive the test cycle process for both feature and errata releases so knowledge of best practices in quality engineering is a distinct advantage. Successful candidates will be self motivated with excellent people and communication skills at all levels.
Qualifications:
Ø BSc in Computer Science with MSc in Computer Science is preferred plus at least 7 years in software quality engineering.
Ø Candidates with either a BSc or MSc in a related area plus at least 7 years experience in an I.T. related area will also be considered.
Skills:
Ø Linux and/or Solaris systems administration
Ø Knowledge of Linux/Solaris networking principles
Ø Python,Java,Jython, test automation, scripting (bash, shell)
Ø Web Services open standards: WSDL,SOAP,UDDI,XML
Ø Storage technologies: NFS,ISCSI,Fiber Channel
Ø Experience with working in server virtualised environments is a distinct advantage
