Position summary
Cloud Ops and Shared Cloud Engineering form Cloud Services that has an exciting and challenging mission: Build, deploy, operate, scale and maintain a company-wide platform (PaaS) for Adobe SaaS solutions. While Shared Cloud Engineering focuses on building the Shared Cloud platform, Cloud Ops provides operational support for both the platform as well as the product teams that leverage the platform. In addition, our portfolio of clients extends beyond the platform to standalone products that will eventually migrate to the Shared Cloud platform. We are a trusted partner to our clients based on proven track record to meet Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for specific services we charge our clients – Application Management, Service Support, and Cloud Hosting. We have two additional services that round out Cloud Ops – Architecture and Service Management. This role will report into the Senior Manager of Application Management based in the U.S. As a member of Application Management, your primary responsibility will be to partner with the Shared Cloud Engineering team based in Hamburg. With this responsibility, you will become the advocate for Shared Cloud Engineering within Cloud Ops. Therefore this role will ensure the needs of Shared Cloud Engineering remain front and center for both Application Management and all of Cloud Ops.
Key deliverables include, but are not limited to:
- Prioritize operational deliverables in partnership with engineering for the Shared Cloud platform
- Embrace the DevOps approach to advance auto-deployment capabilities in partnership with Shared Cloud Engineering and Cloud Ops Architecture
- Continuous monitoring improvements of the Shared Cloud platform
- Seek opportunities to streamline standard operating procedures
- Partner with clients of the Shared Cloud platform to ensure their operational needs are met and complement our DevOps approach
- Work with Shared Cloud Engineering and Cloud Ops Architecture in architecting advancements of the Shared Cloud platform
- Collaborate with the rest of Cloud Ops to ensure learnings from the Shared Cloud platform are adopted by clients of the Shared Cloud
Successful execution of the role will require working closely with the broader Application Management team located in San Francisco, San Jose, Bucharest, Delhi, and Sydney.
Today we have Tech Leads in San Jose, San Francisco, and Bucharest. Initially this role will be the first of its kind based in Hamburg and will start out as an individual contributor. We expect to add additional application administrators in Hamburg starting next year that will report to the local Tech Lead. This role will enable you to demonstrate your hands-on technical leadership in the support of Adobe SaaS product teams. You will work closely with engineering to improve the operational design. Your personal goals and objectives for Application Management will be set by the Senior Manager for Applications Management based in the Bay Area, CA.
The success of Application Management is measured by SLAs established between Application Management and the Adobe Cloud product teams. Major responsibilities of Application Management include partnering with Engineering and QE on major and dot releases; perform all releases; deploy emergency patches; ensure all environments are appropriately monitored; proactively maintain the overall health of all environments; and to respond to system outages according to standard operating procedures.
Application Management forms part of the larger Cloud Ops organization that includes Cloud Hosting, Service Support, Service Management, and Architecture.
Responsibilities - Support and maintain the Shared Cloud staging and production environments
- Interface with Shared Cloud Engineering and clients of the Shared Cloud to recommend operational improvements in their respective applications
- Provide technical Leadership for the Application Management team supporting the Shared Cloud
- Foster our policies and procedures in the areas of incident response and monitoring
- Analyze infrastructure needs and make recommendations in the areas of:
Capacity Planning
Performance
Availability – meeting uptime SLAs
Monitoring
Automated Deployments
- Coordinate technical resolution of major incidents
- Manage tasks assignments to ensure commits are delivered on time

Requirements
- University degree (BS/MS) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- 5 or more years of experience in Windows Server and Linux administration in an internet focused production environment.
- Hands-on experience with multiple, diverse technologies and processing environments (including but not limited to system and network administration, 24/7 intervention on Internet and SaaS products, remote troubleshooting on J2EE, LAMP and Microsoft-based environments)
- Thorough understanding of networking concepts and Internet protocols.
- Experience with cloud-computing stacks is an important advantage
- Exceptional interpersonal skills including teamwork, facilitation and negotiation
- Advanced analytical and technical experience
