Within the DASTECH team, we are looking for an :
Improvement Engineer (m/f)
To be located in Drusenheim (67 - France)
The improvement engineer leads the plant level improvement process by gathering and analyzing data, evaluating improvement opportunities, and implementing improvement projects at the DAS Drusenheim Actives plants.
The improvement engineer provides input and leads execution of the Plant Specific Technology Plan, thereby closing local performance gaps, increasing Asset Capability (AC), supporting product portfolio evolution, and execution of Business & Functional Strategies.
The improvement engineer provides plant level improvement project support, which may include fulfilling roles in Global Project Methodology (GPM), Six Sigma, Lean, CPS, M&ISC etc.).Provide plant level improvement process by gathering and analyzing data, evaluating improvement opportunities, and implementing improvement projects
The Drusenheim Active plants are world-scale production units for Fluroxypyr, Haloxyfop and Quinoxyfen which are aligned under the Dow AgroSciences business portfolio.
The job aligns functionally to the accountable Molecule Technology Leader and administratively to the TICA Resource Leader for DAS Tech Europe.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Partners with plant operation personnel to secure process data for identification of technology gaps, improvement opportunities, and project definitions.
- Champions Plant Improvement Team and assures proper set-up and use of global opportunity identification tools (Opportunity Tracking System, Idea Tracker, etc).
- Validates improvement opportunities using global tools and assists in building the Plant Specific Technology Plan.
- Assists the Improvement Leader to ensure implementation of Business supported projects as identified in the Plant Specific Technology Plan
- Assists in managing Asset Utilization and project budgets
- Identifying plant improvements that are aligned to the Global Molecule / Technology Strategies, for input into Plant Specific Technology Plan.
- Owner of the asset TICA database, providing inputs and updates to accurately show the business and asset supported improvement activities.
Improvement Engineer Job Job Requirements
Qualifications
- BS degree in Chemical-, Process- or Mechanical- Engineering.
- Chemical and/or process engineering background preferred.
- Six Sigma Green-Belt Project Leader is a plus
- 5 year experience in Manufacturing and Engineering function
- Experience in TICA and GPM is a benefit.
- Key competencies include technical skills and interpersonal effectiveness. Work during off-hours and weekends are sometimes required during plant turnarounds or upsets.
- Incumbent needs to be fluent in French and English
Goals and CompetenciesThe following, generic goals are typical for an improvement engineer at the Drusenheim Site:
1. Identifies the costs and benefits associated with opportunities and plans utilizing Lean and Six Sigma toolset to come up with the most effective resolution plan to minimize cost and maximize benefits.
2. Supports and executes operating discipline development as well as commissioning of assigned projects.
3. Fully participate in the plant's EH&S program. Lead RCI’s and LOPA studies and RCPHA reviews.
4. Fully participate on an empowered team (Improvement and Quality, Operation Team).
5. Improves project/team efficiency and performance by clearly defining and analyzing problems using data, and implementing new ways of approaching work and recognizing individuals and teams for their contributions.
6. Identifies new solutions by looking at issues from different points of view and using the Dow/DAS mission and values to shape thinking.
7. Together with xTL align and prioritize projects and works on those which have the greatest value impact to the DAS business
Candidates should meet the requirements of the following competency profile which can be viewed by using PS Finder: Manufacturing & Engineering/Functional Specialist/Functional Leader.
INTERPERSONAL EFFECTIVENESS: Must have strong interpersonal skills and experience in working with shift and technical operations teams. Must be able to work with multiple functions. Good communication skills are required.
TEAMWORK: Excellent knowledge of team dynamics and empowerment is required. Must demonstrate strong commitment and performance with respect to achievement of team goals through personal performance.
INITIATIVE: Must have ability to identify and drive continuous improvement in EH&S, plant performance, and various manage production work processes. Must have the ability to work independently without a lot of input from the production leader.
TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES: Candidate must have a strong technical base and a very good understanding of technical tools used to troubleshoot and solve problems in a production unit.
LEADERSHIP: Must have the ability to influence a diverse work group toward the achievement of plant and project goals.
VALUE CREATION: Must align personal goals to the overall business and plant goals. All projects and activities must be evaluated to determine the level of value gained or destroyed.
