For the department of Original Equipment (OE) Development we are looking for a
Product Development Engineer
The department:
Development of towbars is for our OE customers is done both in Staphorst (NL) as well as Reims (FR) and the engineers are working on multiple developments for our OE customers.
Thule is a worldwide company with OE and AM customers in several countries. Company language is English and all work will be internationally influenced. The working tools are mainly Pro/Engineer (CAD) and Pro/Mechanica (FEA). There is also a fully equipped workshop for prototyping as well as measuring room with digital measurement devices and dynamical test equipment.
The OE Development team in Staphorst is hosted in an open office together with other engineers from the departments Innovation, AM Towbar Development and Production Engineering. Due to expansion of projects, the OE Development team needs to expand its capacity and there are vacancies for the position of Product Development Engineer.
Job description:
As Product Development Engineer you are responsible for the design and validation of towbars in close cooperation with our OE customer(s). You will participate in a project team and will be responsible for the technical design and verification of OE towbar developments. The emphasis is on design, reliability and customer satisfaction and you will work together with colleagues from your own and other departments. As technical responsible you will have direct communication with the technical contact persons from our customer and will discuss engineer detailing on daily base. In your engineering role you will be mostly creating technical specifications in 2D/3D CAD, FEA analysis’s of strength and durability and you will also validate the design through a compiled test program.
Job requirements:
You are an experienced mechanical engineer in a Higher Technical Education. You have a practical, demonstrable interest in mechanical engineering. Out-of-the-box thinking and dedication to the job are basis skills you have. As a CAD and FEA engineer you have experience preferably from the automotive industry, where you have worked in multidisciplinary project teams. You control construction in both 3D and 2D (preferably Pro/ENGINEER or Catia V5) and perform strength calculations with FEA (preferably Pro/Mechanica). You are a results oriented team player with a healthy dose of perseverance and you have good communication and convincing skills. You shall control the English and/or German language well both in writing and speaking.
