The research & development consortium KAI, founded in 2006 and located at the Technology Park Villach, is focusing its research activities mainly in the area of reliability of power semiconductors in automotive and industrial applications. Together with our industry partner Infineon Technologies Austria AG we are working on several projects covering material research, modeling and simulation. In this area we are looking for an experienced
Research & Development Engineer FEM Simulation
Focus of research is the thermo mechanical and thermo electrical finite element simulation of new automotive and industrial semiconductor chip technologies as well as the corresponding material and interface characterization. The aim is to reach best in class design, performance, cost and quality.
- Development and implementation of advanced simulation techniques including model development
- Participation in definition and development of new technologies by integrating simulation into research & development process
- Development of design guidelines (thermal, mechanical) for high quality automotive and industrial products based on knowledge about material properties and limitations
- Supervision of diploma and PhD students regarding mechanical modeling of relevant materials and interfaces
The candidate will decisively contribute to the future development of the simulation group at KAI and work closely with corresponding technology development and simulation departments of Infineon Technologies.
Research & Development Engineer FEM Simulation (f/m) Job Requirements
Required qualifications:
- University degree in mechanical engineering required, studies in micro systems technology desired
- work experience from 3 up to 5 years in the field of thermo mechanical FEM simulations, ideally in modeling and simulation of semiconductor chip/package systems
- Profound experience with Ansys FEM software, fracture mechanics and mechanics of materials required, programming skills desired
- Knowledge on semiconductor technologies and semiconductor physics, wafer processing and chip assembly and interconnect technologies desired
- Detailed knowledge in material and interface characterization of metals and dielectrics
- Team player with proven organizational and technical leadership skills
Location: The candidate will work in Villach (Carinthia in Southern Austria). The site is located in a very attractive environment with many recreation possibilities.
The position offers motivated candidates outstanding opportunities for applied research and development in a growing segment with close connection to a leading high tech company.
This position is subject to the collective agreement for workers and employees (f/m) in the electrical and electronics industry, employment group H (http://www.feei.at/kollektivvertraege/kv_tabelle/). A higher payment is negotiable depending on your expertise and skills.
- Must have a university degree in mechanics, material science or physics. CAD/FEM experience and knowledge on semiconductor or MEMS processing technologies are desired. Some industry experience preferred.
