hazardous materials and substances? Are you experienced in encouraging our design engineers and our suppliers to phase-out hazardous materials and substances in current and new designs?
Do you have understanding of mechanical and electrical designs, used materials, manufacturing processes and technical product documentation? And you have persuasive communication skills and the ability to influence without power? If so, you could be our new Material Compliance Engineer focusing at (but not limited to) Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) - Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) Compliance Engineer.
Job Mission
As part of our drive to future-proof our products, ASML aims to comply, wherever possible, with legislation on hazardous materials and substances. For an effective compliance we must challenge the compliance level and need towards authorities, legal department or customer account teams.
Your mission as our Material Compliance Engineer, in the area of RoHS and REACH a.o. is to create insight in where hazardous materials are used in our current designs, and actively distribute actions towards projects, designers and suppliers to phase these out. Understanding of mechanical and electrical designs, used materials and manufacturing processes and technical product documentation is a must. You will report and discuss with senior management the progress and effectiveness we are making in this area. Therefore project way of working, understanding of business processes and business acumen is needed. Are you ready for such challenges?
Job Description
Closely follow the evolving material legislations (RoHS, REACH, CM and others), assess its impact on ASML and create an execution plan, together with the Material & substances competence. Continuously improve the material business rules and their embedding in ASML’s processes and applicable IT tools.Networking within ASML and peers in other industries on legislation and implementation.Annual reporting on RoHS-REACH results against corporate targets.Challenge and discuss corporate policy against changing regulation.Validate exemption requests based on business impact and technical risk analysis.Leading a small team of RoHS-REACH engineers.Assess designs on material compliance.Analyze complete machines on material compliance.Assess supplier responses on RoHS-REACH compliance requests and initiate action.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Material Science, Mechanical and/or ElectricalEngineering.
Experience
5 to 10 years in high-tech product development environment. Experience in material substance regulations (RoHS-REACH) is desirable. Experience in project management.
Personal skills
Team player with excellent communication, coordination and influencing skills. Business Acumen.
Context of the position
You will be part of a team of 10 persons. You will report to the Team Lead of Standardization & Infrastructure Team.
