EUMETSAT is Europe’s meteorological satellite agency. Its role is to establish and operate meteorological satellites to monitor the weather and climate from space - 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This information is supplied to the National Meteorological Services of the organisation's Member and Cooperating States in Europe, as well as other users worldwide.
EUMETSAT also operates several Copernicus missions on behalf of the European Union and provide data services to the Copernicus marine and atmospheric services and their users.

Can you apply your operational experience in the provision of high-availability data services to support EUMETSAT in the real time dissemination of satellite products to our users, helping them acquire a better understanding of weather and climate monitored from space?
EUMETSAT is the European operational satellite agency for monitoring weather, climate and the environment, pulling together the resources of 30 Member States. We observe the atmosphere and ocean and land surfaces from Space using a system of satellites, 365 days a year, offering images and data to provide insights into weather situations, environmental hazards and climate change. We are recruiting for an engineer to co-ordinate and conduct the dissemination of products extracted from satellite data (Meteosat, Metop, Jason, Sentinel-3) and to support the continued evolution of a variety of data dissemination systems.
In this role you will act as the operations interface to both internal and external data providers for the set-up of new dissemination services. Additionally you will prepare and maintain operational procedures for the dissemination systems and will configure data flows within the multi-mission system. Part of your responsibilities will involve managing both the satellite based and terrestrial EUMETCast multicasting services, providing European/African and worldwide coverage respectively.
You will also be expected to support the evolution of dissemination systems to ensure that the additional requirements of the next generation satellite systems are fulfilled. This will require activities to be undertaken such as the analysis of performance requirements, the definition of sub-system interfaces and support to testing and validation.
Alongside a University degree in Telecommunications, Physics, Electronics of Software Engineering (or equivalent) you will need to demonstrate practical professional experience in routine operations, testing and validation of systems supporting time-critical data services. Knowledge and experience in disseminating large volumes of data via satellite and/or terrestrial Wide Area Networks is also required, as are excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to apply these to interactions within a team and between teams.
The official languages of EUMETSAT are English and French. Candidates must be able to work effectively in English and have some knowledge of French.
