We are upgrading our Ground Systems and Infrastructure to enable new satellite missions and to support future technology. Do you have the ability to manage multiple, complex I.T. and engineering projects to help us achieve this goal?
EUMETSAT is the European satellite agency for monitoring weather and climate. Bringing together the resources of 30 Member States, we develop and operate a range of satellite systems surveying the atmosphere, ocean and climate that deliver data 24 hours a day. Our data is vital to weather forecasts that protect lives and property and to monitoring the changing climate. EUMETSAT is now developing the next generation of satellite systems, shaping its long-term future.
We have a role for a Project Manager, working within the Multi-Mission Elements (MME) Upgrade Team, to ensure that our generic systems and infrastructure and specifically the MME (the set of software, facilities, tools, IT infrastructure covering Data Archive and Retrieval, Distribution functions as well as Ground systems Monitoring and Infrastructure and IT functions) support all current EUMETSAT operational satellite ground systems and are upgraded to support the new programmes under development. The role involves managing multiple complex upgrade projects concurrently to help us achieve multi-mission system capability.
Your main responsibilities will include managing the upgrade projects of the MMEs with focus on network and computer infrastructure, from the architectural design phase until the handover to customer (or end User) including organisation of relevant reviews. You will manage the interactions with programmes in development and with the engineering teams in charge of MMEs’ maintenance and evolution.
Contributing to the generation and maintenance of the MME services catalogue and related Service Level Agreement (SLA) with programmes in development, you will generate and maintain Development and Management Plans, Project Plans and schedules. You will advise on the implementation of change control and baseline management processes. You may also be involved in initiating, managing and monitoring of external procurements and contracts.
Along with a university degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline i.e. Computer Sciences, IT or Network Engineering you will have proven skills/experience in the following:
All applicants must be a EUMETSAT member state national with a good working knowledge of the English language, both spoken and written. You also require some knowledge of French.
The closing date is 24th September 2017. Interviews are provisionally booked for the week commencing 6th November 2017.
EUMETSAT is committed to providing an equal opportunities work environment for men and women and is seeking to recruit nationals from its Member States. Please see our website for further details.
