EUMETSAT is Europe’s meteorological satellite agency. Its role is to establish and operate meteorological satellites to monitor the weather and climate from space - 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This information is supplied to the National Meteorological Services of the organisation's Member and Cooperating States in Europe, as well as other users worldwide.
EUMETSAT also operates several Copernicus missions on behalf of the European Union and provide data services to the Copernicus marine and atmospheric services and their users.

We are looking for an operational engineer to join our Copernicus Mission Control Applications and Tools Competence Area to drive forward our success.
Your responsibilities
You will be responsible for providing support to Copernicus ground segment(s) engineering and maintenance of relevant Mission Control Applications. As a technical leader, you will develop solutions that will shape the strategy of the Mission Control Support team.
The role involves leading the maintenance and engineering applications dedicated to our flight operations. There is an opportunity to support the development phase of new Copernicus systems to enhance the exploitation of operational satellite systems - including the design, development and testing of applications for new ground segment systems.
You will work with contractors to adopt cost-efficient solutions and ensure that Service Level Agreements are delivered. Working within the team, you will collaborate with team members to enhance the knowledge and skill base within the team.
The ideal candidate
Along with a university degree in engineering or a scientifically relevant subject, you should be a collaborative team member with proven experience as a technical lead, preferably within a 24/7 operational environment.
You will have extensive experience in the domain of Mission Control Supporting Applications and in maintaining large scale software systems. You will need to demonstrate your resilience and organisational skills in a fast paced, high availability environment. This is an opportunity to demonstrate technical leadership, sharing concepts that will enhance the performance of our Mission Control Support team.
You need to be experienced in software development lifecycles along with the integration, testing and acceptance of complex software applications. Knowledge of one or more of the following domains/systems is considered an advantage:
