Senior Organic Chemist Job Description

Job Description:
In this new created position, the hired candidate will report directly to the Senior Director of R&D and will be responsible for leading a small team involved in specific and special material selection and qualification suitable for micro optoelectronic packaging

The main duties and responsibilities of the role are:

• Supervise and coordinate other 2 engineers working in the same team
• Participate in definition and identification of suitable materials to fulfill the requirements of new products as specified by product designers
• Interacting with material suppliers to get such material being developed or adjusted to the needs
• Participating in experiments at the R&D Lab related to these new products and support or assist in the testing of such materials
• Interacting with other technical teams in the company like Optical Design Engineering, Product Designers, Process Experts and R&D on existing and future requirements for materials
• Operate as entry point of contact for new material requests
• Maintain and update a database of existing/qualified materials as well as new and under qualification materials

Senior Organic Chemist Job Requirements

We are looking for an Organic Chemist with experience in plastic, polymers, epoxies and silicone based materials. Experience of the use, implementation and development of such materials possibly in the microelectronic field
We expect candidates with a Master’s Degree in Organic Chemistry
The hired candidate shall be resourceful, hands-on, problem solver and have the capacity to quickly grasp and resolve a wide range of technical challenges in the field

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 to 5 years combined experience in similar positions and experience in managing small teams of engineers
• In depth knowledge and understanding of organic materials, specifically epoxies and silicones
• Project management experience, the use of design of experiments (DOE), and root cause failure analysis
• Proven ability to solve complex analytical problems and provide robust solutions
• Team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Independent and energetic personality with the ability to multitask
• Ability to travel both domestically and internationally

• Process development and/or manufacturing experience for chemicals would be a plus
• Knowledge of semiconductor foundry and packaging processes is also a plus
