IT Technician Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION
As part of a team of 9 engineers and technicians, you will participate in the development and the maintenance of the Accelerator Control System. This system is distributed over several hundreds of computer hosts and embedded systems.

Your missions are:

• Provide support on the control systems computers and embedded systems infrastructure
• Monitor the system and maintain the monitoring tools
• Contribute to the installation of a new version of Linux (Debian) on all control computers
• Participate in the installation and maintenance of the Linux embedded systems infrastructure
• Maintain and improve the online documentation of the control computer infrastructure
• Develop device servers using the TANGO distributed controls framework
• Develop low level drivers for Linux embedded systems

IT Technician Job Requirements

PROFILE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• You should hold a technician degree (BSc, Licence, HND, HNC, BTS, DUT, Bachelor, Meister, Vordiplom, Perito, Laurea Triennale, Diplomatura, Ingenieria Técnica or equivalent) in industrial computing systems and/or embedded systems
• 1 to 5 years of professional experience
• Skills in Linux based embedded systems, networking and distributed systems
• C and C++ programming skills
• Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills for providing effective support
• Proficiency in English (working language at the ESRF)
