Electro-mechanical Technician Job Description
Electro-mechanical Technician in the Physics Department (EP), ATLAS Detector Operation group (ADO), Project Office section (PO).
As a member of ATLAS Technical Coordination and inside EP-ADO-PO section, you will perform the following functions:
- To provide technical support to the Operation Manager (OPM) on a wide variety of activities:
- Be responsible for maintenance and equipment of rack cooling;
- Be responsible for the equipment of new racks with common Detector Control System (DCS) monitoring, as well as any required change of configuration and maintenance;
- Perform maintenance and upgrade of common environmental control devices (e.g. webcams, temperature and humidity sensors etc.);
- Perform the maintenance of common infrastructure and equipment in the Atlas Control Room (e.g. overhead projectors);
- Participate to the upgrade of rack cooling system in order to match the requirement of future systems.
- To take part in the maintenance of safety systems:
- Be part of the team in charge of the maintenance of the Sniffers system used to measure the concentration of smoke or flammable gas;
- Be part of the Detector Safety System (DSS) stand-by team;
- Maintain DSS hardware (sensors, cabling, etc.) and participate to any development of this system.
- To participate in the general support provided by the Technical Coordination:
- Be part of the team in charge of the opening of the ATLAS detector during the shutdown periods;
- Act as Territory Safety Officer (TSO) for underground installations;
- Participate to the maintenance of the movement system;
- Participate to cable routing and installation in the experimental and service caverns as well as in surface buildings used for the integration of upgrade detectors.
Electro-mechanical Technician Job Requirements
Higher technical diploma* in the field of electro-mechanics, or equivalent.
The technical competencies required are:
- Maintenance and operation of electro-mechanical equipment;
- Commissioning and maintenance of electro-mechanical equipment;
- Installation and dismantling of electro-mechanical equipment;
- Electro-mechanical testing.
