Exciting opportunity for a Graduate Naval Architect to work on vulnerability & survivability modelling with this leading Defence organisation.
Description
Survivability Analyst to be responsible for consultancy analysis of vulnerability projects using the Survive software. 2 roles exist: one at a junior level, the other for an experienced Survivability Engineer.This role is commutable from Edinburgh, Glenrothes, Livingstone and Dunfermline.
Production of Ship and System models within the Survive software environment. Derivation of attack weights and geometries within Survive software. Analysis of modelling results in the Survive software.
Details
- Basic understanding of Ship structures and / or systems.
- Competent in engineering discipline (preferably Marine systems).
- Competent in basic statistical analysis.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Able to undertake Finite Element modelling (FEA) using Abaqus, MSC, Nastran, Patran, Altair Hyperworks or Dyna tools.
- Ability to programme in Fortran and or C++.
- Background in creating and using numerical models.
- Familiarity with Naval Ship systems (both Marine and Combat systems) general layout and operating principles highly desirable.
- Understanding of basics of weapon effects (blast fragmentation, shock, whipping and fire.
- Possessing flexibility and excellent teamworking skills, you will be capable of working unsupervised and delivering high-quality advice to customers, including presentations to a technical audience. Expanding activities may require travel on an occasional basis.
- You will be familiar with naval ship systems (both marine and combat system) general layout and operating principles.
Someone with some experience in Marine Systems or Ship Systems or a recent graduate in Naval Architecture would be considered for the lower level role.
