Cloud Infrastructure Engineer Job Description
What is the role about?
As Cloud Infrastructure Engineer you are responsible for our worldwide cloud hosting and underlying storage platforms. This is more than pro-actively monitoring and supporting the systems; we also aim to find new solutions and then test, build and maintain them.You will have the chance to work with different technologies. Your actions will have major impact but you will also clearly see the result of your work.
Your daily activities will be:
- Develop, Maintain and support the Cloud infrastructure
- 3rd line incident support
- To ensure the availability of virtualization services
- Regular on-call duty
- Working closely with other departments at LeaseWeb
- Work in alignment with the existing processes for Release-, Incident- and Problem Management
- Report on key performance indicators for storage platforms (performance, availability, capacity utilization)
- Identify and propose solutions for improvements or structural problems
The Product Engineering Department:Our international team at LeaseWeb Technologies is in charge of our scalability and automation platform. The Development department consists of around 90 techies, working in small scrum teams. Each of the teams is responsible for a different area of our software and infrastructure landscape, covering data center automation, product research & development (Bare Metal Servers, CDN, Cloud, Storage) and front-end implementations for our websites and customer portal.
We work in a cross functional environment with a DevOps philosophy. We are quickly moving towards becoming an agile company, and the Development department is certainly leading the way. There is a clear focus on innovation. Working on a scrum framework will give you a lot of freedom. Cloud Infrastructure Engineer Job Requirements
Our ideal candidate has:
- Professional and intellectual capacities at bachelor or master level
- Demonstrable knowledge of VMWare
- VCP5 or higher certification is preferred (or the willingness to obtain it)
- Knowledge of monitoring systems like Nagios is desirable
- Preferably the candidate should also have experience with two or more of the following technologies: Linux, networking, scripting, KVM, VMware vCloud, Storage (NetApp, Ceph).
- Professional attitude; in communication (with customers), to improve quality and prevent incidents
- Good command of written and spoken English (Dutch would be an advantage)
