Second-line Controls Support Engineer Job Description

Your position:

As Second-line Controls Support Engineer you'll be responsible for quickly solving faults and other issues on our customers' material handling systems. You'll trace and correct incidents  (incident management). If a problem can't be solved on-the-spot you'll carry out a quick fix.  After you have restored the production you prepare and implement a permanent solution (problem management). Performing health checks and advising on modifications to operational systems are also part of your core tasks. You'll then prepare, implement and test the agreed changes.
The majority of these support tasks are carried out from our offices. If needed we can decide to provide local support, this means you have to visit our customers worldwide occasionally.
Your department:

Our Controls Service Desk is a service organisation that operates internationally, with the task of supporting customers and local service staff by analysing problems and advising on controls-related matters.

As Second-line Controls Support Engineer you'll be an important link between the different service organisations and the Engineering department. You have frequent customer contact, so you need to have good communication skills. You can analyse problems very well, you ask the right questions and you listening to the customer and you can translate your findings into a technical solution.

Second-line Controls Support Engineer Job Requirements

Your profile:

  • Education at bachelor level in a technical subject
  • 0-3 years experience in controls technology
  • Knowledge of commissioning, installing and/or debugging of PLCs and IPCs.
  • Knowledge of Webfactory, field buses (PROFIBUS, ASI) and networks is an advantage
  • Excellent English, both spoken and written
  • Willing to travel internationally up to 30%
