Electronics Technician (Radio Frequency) Job Description
Functions
As Electronics Technician in the LRF Section, you will be a member of the team responsible for testing, commissioning, operation and maintenance of high power Radio Frequency amplifiers (based on tube and solid state technology) and accelerating cavities.
You will:
- Contribute to the design, construction, and maintenance of electronic and electro-mechanical equipment and participate in their assembly and testing;
- Assist in the consolidation of the RF systems, which involves design, development, operation, and upgrades to the existing Linac RF systems;
- Participate in fault-finding and corrective interventions;¿
- Take responsibility progressively for validation tests of new amplifier components and for the testing and maintenance of existing components;
- Take part in organising the work of on-site subcontractors when needed;¿
- Be part of the standby service for the Linac RF systems.
Electronics Technician (Radio Frequency) Job Requirements
Qualification required
Higher technical diploma in the field of electronics, or equivalent.
Experience and competencies
This position is open to junior and senior professionals with a keen interest in developing their knowledge of high-power RF systems, analogue and digital electronics, and high voltage installations.
The experience required for this post is:
- Commissioning, operation and maintenance of electronic and electro-mechanical systems;
- Systematic fault finding in electronic systems.;
- Experience with radio frequency technology and/or microwave technology.
Preference will be given to candidates who have experience with any of the following areas:- Radar systems,¿tube and/or solid state amplifiers;
- High voltage equipment (1 - 100 kV);
- Power transistor technology.
The technical competencies required for this post are:- Commissioning, maintenance and operation of power systems;
- Commissioning, operation and maintenance of electronic systems;
- Commissioning and maintenance of electro-mechanical equipment;
- Analog circuit testing and measurement techniques: using oscilloscopes and network analyzers.
The behavioural competencies required for this post are:- Achieving results: delivering high quality work on time and fulfilling expectations;
- Working in teams: working well in groups and readily fitting into a team; participating fully and taking an active role in team activities;
- Communicating effectively: ensuring that information, procedures and decisions are appropriately documented; providing others with timely information.

The language competencies required are:- Spoken and written English or French: ability to understand and speak the other language in routine situations would be an advantage.
