Mechanical Test Engineer Job Description

As Mechanical Test Engineer you will be testing components extensively under various conditions, to ensure that they can meet the standards for the required lifetime according to the project and company requirements. You are primarily responsible for the preparation, execution and reporting of the test activities and to obtain approval for all tests.Furthermore:

• You will mainly work in our test facility nearby our Hoofddorp office. Occasionally the mechanical test engineer will travel abroad to fabrication shops/yards, vendors and to offshore assets for short periods;
• You are responsible for incoming (test) products and utilities, mechanical handling, labelling, visual inspection, build in of test specimens, (dis)assembly activities, start up of test programs, monitoring running test programs, inspection and measurements to tested products and proper storage of products and information.
• You will evaluate the testing conditions, inspections and test results and report this clearly.
• During the fabrication phase of a project you can also be asked by the Inspection or Expediting Department to assist during inspections and acceptance tests of third party equipment and in-house designed equipment such as agreed with line management.

Mechanical Test Engineer Job Requirements

• MTS/HTS in (Applied) Mechanical Engineering either by education or equivalent knowledge by experience;
• Computer literacy, document processing, spreadsheets and databases. Ability to draft in 2D or 3D is an advantage;
• 4 years of experience in the operation of a test centre;
• Experience with the operation of a test centre;
• Knowledge of quality requirements applicable to a (test) laboratory;
• Excellent reading & writing skills in English and willing, from time to time, to travel.
• Affinity to work on international, multidisciplinary turn-key projects in a marine environment;
• Experience in the oil and gas industry is a plus.
