Global Technical Manager Vehicle Refinishes
Your core function in this role is to provide quality support and performance across plants and facilities spanning six global regions. Thus it is essential that you possess technical expertise in VR technologies and products as well as sophisticated international management skills. The function covers all key business segments: Premium, Mid-Market and Commercial Vehicles.
You will be working for a multinational, multicultural company that is committed to your personal and professional development.
The position is located at our Sassenheim plant in the Netherlands but you will be traveling for approximately 30% of the time.
Responsibilities and deliverables
Within this context you are responsible for evaluating, proposing and coordinating solutions for issues, problems and opportunities concerning product and systems performance, applications, color, raw materials.
This requires you to combine technical knowledge with financial acumen as you act as a global technical community link to RD&I while interfacing with Color, IT and RD&I and other BUs. You also coordinate support for the technical aspects of gaining OEM approvals and tenders and represent the technical authority for the company in areas including Product, System Approvals, Specialty Products and Industry Knowledge.
Where possible you align and standardize functional technical procedures, policies and initiatives at BU and sBU levels. You also organize resources and facilities to meet the technical needs of the market, consolidating and monitoring technical financial budgets and expenses across regions.
At all times, you provide vision for technical direction, ensuring that product assortment and system are technically sound and providing creative and innovative technical solutions that enhance market presence and meet customer requirements
Further responsibilities include training materials and ensuring that our Technical Competence Center is equipped for competitive analyses and business impact in all product related matters.
Finally, you attend activities/meetings, as required, representing the voice of (field) Technical for AkzoNobel Coatings Inc.
To apply for this position you must be able to demonstrate all of the following attributes:
• Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university;
• 5+ years of technical management experience and 5+ years of extensive industry experience and knowledge in vehicle refinishing products/systems and general application skills;
• Able to generate energy within a matrix-based international environment and lead by example;
• Proven track record of developing and/or dealing with a high-performing technical team;
• Strong technical skills and ability to teach / mentor technical skills to a diverse team;
• Fluent written and spoken English.
