As a Lead Engineer/Senior Design Engineer you will be responsible for the execution of the functional design of electrical wiring interconnections, i.e. Wiring Interconnection System design. This involves analyzing design requirements, performing trade-off studies, making design choices and designing wire harnesses constructions and interconnections (From-To definitions), complete product definitions in our Wiring design & Manufacturing System (WDMS) tool, writing technical reports in a Design Engineering tooling environment, through integration and concurrent engineering with international and multi-disciplinary teams and together with system suppliers and our customers.
The Lead Engineer /Senior Design Engineer will report to a Lead Engineer WIS, but may take guidance and direction on a day-to-day basis from a Work Package Manager within the applicable design and development project. The place of work will by default be at Fokker Elmo Head Quarters in Hoogerheide, but in some cases this might require work on-site at the customer. Below qualifications apply for this position:
Understanding of:
• Design processes and methods / standards;
• Requirement definition / validation;
• (International) design drawing standards and methods;
• System design (components, constructions, schematics, wiring diagrams);
• Particular risk assessments (rotor burst, tyre burst, etc.);
• Main routing architecture definition;
• System safety analysis;
• Separation / segregation rules;
• Grounding and bonding definition;
• Wire & cable sizing / voltage drop calculation;
• Integration aspects of design;
• Wiring harness functional design;
• Design verification (reporting of deviations);
• Configuration management principles.
Fundamental knowledge of:
• Aircraft and systems;
• Parts & materials of wiring harnesses;
• Environmental conditions in aircraft;
• System architectures;
• Wiring functional design;
• Wiring harness manufacturing;
• Basics of electronics and mechanics.
Experience:
• 3-5 years functional design working experience in the Aerospace industry;
• CAE tools (design and configuration management for systems and wiring product definition data);
• MS office: (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Visio).

• Teamwork: Able to work constructively in a small team taking responsibility for assigned tasks and able to instruct and coach Design Engineers in achieving team targets and deadlines;

• Results-driven: Able to plan own work and that of the team members in line with project schedules, reports progress regularly and timely in the event of issues or delays;
• Communication: Fluent English in speech and writing, ability to communicate clearly and concisely (including technical reports) in a convincing manner with flair / forthcomingness.
