Superconductor Specialist (PhD)
Job Description
Future EUV lithography systems require high power EM (electromagnetic) fields for accurate and fast exposure of patterns onto wafers. Some concepts involve environments at very low pressure with surroundings where cryogenic thermal control plays a role. Optimized thermal control is important for proper functioning of proposed concepts. The candidate should work in a project team with technical professionals with physics, chemistry, mathematics, electrical and mechanical engineering background, come up with creative ideas for solving thermal problems and introducing appropriate thermal design and architecture. Your main responsibilities for this position are generation of new ideas for optimized thermal design in environments with superconducting materials and cryogenics systems, set up of tests and analysis for showing which critical aspects should be addressed for feasibility and to come to a proof of concept, set up of activities with external partners for modeling and calculations of complex arrangements for solving critical issues. These models should be validated with experimental set-ups partly available and partly to be set-up by the candidate, transfer of new concepts to internal departments.
Education
PhD (or MSc with experience) in Physics, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Experience
The candidate need to have experience in temperature control in cryogenic systems, this is a MUST. Experience with particle accelerators, superconducting materials, thermal design of complex systems.
Keywords: cryogenics systems, superconductors, particle accelerators, thermal design, low pressure thermo mechanical design
