Body Lead Engineer Job Description

Position Description:

Responsible for carrying out the design and development of body parts, supervising activities related to a specific project within the body group. To lead a team of designers (in house or outsourced resources), giving the guidelines to get a project completed within target performances, costs and time, & checking the results. Responsible for the correct release of the parts into the system, and supporting the other departments of the company with appropriate reporting. Evora R: Face lift of current Evora involving several body parts (bumpers, spoiler, door, ducts and modifications to other parts) Exige R: face lift of current Exige involving several body parts (Tailgate, spoiler, winglets)

Qualifications and Experience:

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Similar role at OEM or Tier 1,
• CAD background body engineering and systems/mechanisms background
• Knowledge of CATIA V5 & MS Office suite
• Body engineering Background
• Adaptable, proactive, team player, motivated, focused on problem solving
• Liaison with testing areas and assembly line are required

• Gateway1: (programme to start 'C' class)
  
  • Develop concepts based on agreed sections
  • Develop hard point criteria for studio to enable development of the surface
  • Produce 3D feasibility studies to support manufacturing and supplier reviews
  • Support styling reviews as required
  • Develop fixing and mounting strategies for all parts
  • Conduct assembly checks to confirm suitability for production
     
• Gateway 2: ('C' to 'B' class)
  
  • Confirm feasibility of 'C' class surface
  • Produce fully defined 3D models
  • Support supplier feasibility reviews
  • Continually update 3D models to enable manufacturability
  • Conduct initial tolerance study
  • Provide updated 3D CAD models to support DMU reviews
     
• Gateway 3: (('B' class to 'A' class)
  
  • Confirm feasibility of B class surface
  • Update 3D models to produce B class surface
  • Produce drawings to support prototype manufacture
  • Prepare 3D CAD and 2D drawings for EP release
  • Provide updated 3D CAD models to support DMU reviews
     
• Gateway 4: ('A' Class to Production release)
  
  • Confirm feasibility of A class surface
  • Update 3D models to A class surface
  • Produce fully defined 2D drawings to support production release
  • Produce final 3D CAD to support production release
