Field Service Technician Job Description

Overview
 
The main purpose of the role is to be responsible for testing, commissioning, and service of standard Pall’s Separation System Products.
 
Responsibilities
 

• Responsible for testing, commissioning, and service of Pall’s Separation Systems Products.
• May be assigned multiple projects.
• Provide technical direction to mechanical and electrical contractors under the direction of the Local Service Manager.
• Systems include the specific Pall Separation Product integrated into a complete process system utilizing tanks, pumps, compressors, drives, automated valves, process + analytical instrumentation interfaced to a PLC based control system with a graphical user interface front end.
• Responsible for troubleshooting all systems hardware. This includes mechanical, electrical and instrumentation. Will defer to Services Manager and other Tech Services personnel while gaining experience.
• Responsible for troubleshooting PLC software and HMI software based on established designs. Will defer to Services Manager and other Tech Services personnel while gaining experience.
• Responsible for implementing and documenting system modifications under the direction of Services Manager or Engineering design team.
• Responsible for training customer site personnel in the proper operation of the Pall Separation System. Must prepare training materials for various Pall Systems Technologies.
• Provide “On-Call” support coverage.
• Assignments will involve travels to specified sites to perform commissioning and service activities. Travel schedules will be arranged as directed by the Services Manager and will be in accordance with the Pall Technology Services Group Travel Policy.
• Responsible for maintaining a positive relationship with customer. While performing service, the technician must make sound technical decisions to meet customer requirements while maintaining Pall’s commercial interests. Independently resolves adverse situations constructively. Defers to Services Manager as required.
• Responsible for the timely and accurate completion of Time Tracking, Site Visit Reports, Expenses Reports and other business related documents.
• Responsible performing all services in compliance with applicable Pall, site and industrial safety practices.

Field Service Technician Job Requirements

Education and Experience
 

• A two-year technical degree  (BTS MAI preferred) or equivalent experience/training/certification.
• Experience with mechanical assembly and industrial control systems.
• Exposure to electrical and chemical codes and specifications as they apply to industrial process systems.
• A minimum experience of 3 years in the same field of activity: in Installation / Commissioning / Service of industrial and automation process systems with travels. Knowledge in Filtration is preferred.
• Good Knowledge in mechanic, electrical, PLC.
• Knowledge of the usual Windows software (Office) and Lotus Notes.
• Ability of getting through and perseverance.
• Working under pressure.
• Pro-active.
• Good communication skills in English, French.
• Sense of Customer Service.
• Man with practical experience.
• Facing up to responsibilities.
• Interpersonal skills.
• Efficient.
