Production Technician Job in Dudley, England

Production Technician Job Description

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Undertaking microstructural assessment according to standards
  • Liaising with customers regarding technical/status queries on routine metallographic examination
  • Performing contract review
  • Supporting in the Production Office, carrying out job processing and results reporting
  • Carrying out routine mechanical testing such as tensiles, charpy and hardness tests
  • Maintaining clean, tidy laboratory environment
  • Maintaining laboratory consumables stock at appropriate levels
  • Ensuring LIMS worksheets and other records are filled out in accordance with internal procedures
  • Carrying out routine metallographic assessment to meet customer deadlines
  • Carrying out general duties in accordance with Exova internal procedures, quality system and health and safety system
  • Contributing to the improvement in the organisation and efficiency of the workplace through implementing and maintaining 5S actions
  • Undertaking site testing activities when required, in accordance with Exova HSEQ procedures.
  • General duties may involve assisting in areas of testing outside routine operation (i.e. test room)
  • Carrying out other duties as reasonably requested by the Production Manager

Production Technician Job Requirements

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

As a successful candidate you will have a good general education including English and Maths with a qualification in Metallurgy, Materials Science or Mechanical Engineering. Demonstrable experience in the preparation and microstructural examination of metals as well as the Metallographic examination is essential for this role. Experience working within a materials testing environment or production function is advantageous as is an understanding of relevant Quality standards such as UKAS.

We are looking for a professional team player with strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong problem solving and analytical skills are essential as is the ability to work alone under your own initiative. The ability to work well under pressure and organise and prioritise is essential for this role.
