Clinical Informatics Researcher Job Description

Your challenge
As a Clinical Informatics Researcher you will work on research projects for Philips Healthcare or in a corporate Philips Research project. The project teams are multi-disciplinary with a strong application focus. You will develop new concepts and translate them into options for innovations with industrial relevance.

Your responsibilities
An overview of your tasks:
Carry out industrial research in medical informatics and clinical decision support, enlarging relevant knowledge and bringing-in new knowledge;
Pro-actively make knowledge available for operational use within Philips, such as to contribute to successful transfers of research results to the customer;
Keep abreast of technical, application and market developments in the relevant technological and industrial areas, showing interest in the business aspects;
Contribute pro-actively to a creative and inspiring working environment;
Collaborate in a multidisciplinary and international environment, in the context of large collaborative projects in healthcare informatics.

Your team
The mission of the Healthcare Information Management department is to provide the Healthcare market sector with innovative services, applications and solutions in the areas of Clinical IT, Clinical Decision support for Healthcare Systems and healthcare professional services. The group will evolve and extend the Healthcare IT capability for Philips Healthcare.

Clinical Informatics Researcher Job Requirements

We are looking for:
Our ideal candidate has:

  • A PhD in a relevant area (data analysis, semantic web technologies, semantic interoperability, databases, modeling of ontologies, machine learning and data mining techniques).
  • Understanding of the medical (informatics) field is a plus
  • Knowledge of the oncology domains is a plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong personal relationships at all levels, both internal and external to Philips Research; with healthcare professionals, obtain their user needs and be able to transform those into practical solutions that can be clinically validated.
  • And is a team worker in multidisciplinary and international settings

More specifically:
Strong background in databases and semantic web technologies, and affinity with the healthcare domain, particularly in the context of semantic interoperability, of medical  ontologies, and of standards such as HL7, CDISC, OpenEHR, etc.
