Supplier Quality Manager Job Description
Your challenge
As Supplier Quality Manager you:
- Contribute to sourcing decisions, development and deployment of Supplier Quality Strategies that are aligned with Supply Management and Business Strategies, and so will cover both supplier quality tasks in innovation and lifecycle with a 1-3 years time horizon.
- Manage top level executive relationships with suppliers: interface with the suppliers JQM (Joint Quality Manager)
- Identify gaps between required and available supplier capability and by monitoring manage the risk with the supplier. Drive supplier quality improvement plan. Establish quality/process control for high risk parts and high risk suppliers
- Lead and conclude negotiations of Quality Agreements with suppliers and deploy the Philips Management Agenda to the supplier
- Identify, evaluate, recommend, deploy and execute quality tools to suppliers such as APQP, and Supplier Quality Development (SQD)
- Develop and deploy processes and tools to ensure, monitor and manage supplier quality such as supplier performance measurement, supplier assessment, supplier audits , PPAP and continuous improvement.
Your responsibilities
As Supplier Quality Manager you are being responsible for:
- Contribute to development and deployment of Supplier Quality Strategies that are aligned with Supply Management and Business Strategies with a 1-3 years time horizon
- Contribute to sourcing decisions identifying required supplier capability based upon the outsourcing level to ensure that parts received meet requirements from a Quality perspective.
- Lead and conclude negotiations of Quality Agreements with suppliers and deploy the Philips Management Agenda to the supplier
- Identify gaps between required and available supplier capability and manage the risk with the supplier. Drive supplier quality improvement plan. Establish quality/process control for high risk parts and high risk suppliers
- Identify high risk and critical to quality suppliers and establish quality control approaches with relevant suppliers assuring quality throughout the product life cycle
- Lead and monitor supplier Quality, identify structurally non-performing suppliers and manage continuous improvement plans in co-ordination with (G) SAM. This includes vendor account analytics such as ranking, rating, relationship management Drive 1st and 2nd tier supplier improvements
- Own and approve the industrial product release of purchased parts and finished goods during projects and lifecycle
- Plan and lead supplier audits, assessments and supplier performance monitoring
Your team
- Within the BG coffee supplier quality team you will manage a selected group of suppliers that are key to our business, the selected group of international suppliers consist out of strategic or pre-scribed suppliers. Managing those suppliers properly, you will be able to demonstrate your personal skills to in the end contribute to the business goals in which quality is defined to be a key enabler for future growth.
- Together with your colleagues that do cover a same role, you manage all key suppliers by executing on a annual program that is derived from the business strategies. You will report into the global supplier quality manager. The supplier quality department covers a mainstream innovation cluster being the business group coffee category beverage appliances.
Departmental activities are divided into three main areas of responsibilities:
- Supplier scouting and selection
- Project management during the innovation process conducting APQP
- Supplier performance monitoring and supplier development during the lifecycle phase
- Teamwork and leadership skills, covering both the internal organisation and the interaction with suppliers, are key to reach our ambitious goals.

We are looking for
You have a:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with 5 years of relevant experience
- Good understanding of statistical methods, quality tools and methodologies QFD, CtQ breakdown, DfSS, SPC, AQP, FMEA, Control Plan)
- Six Sigma GB/ BB certification preferred
- Highly motivated, action oriented, persistent towards accomplishing tasks and drives for success and a sense of urgency
- Ability to communicate well, oral and written, in English and local language
- Fosters good cross functional communications and integrates the work of managers to achieve business objectives
- Is capable of understanding global approach and align locally
- Is accurate and delivers quality work
- Auditing Skills preferred to possess Lead Auditor certification
- Possesses such expertise in quality systems, methodologies, tool and techniques that he/she is able to establish standards and practices for
- Works in a team to optimize, implement and troubleshoot the performance of quality control systems
- Creates a productive network with internal customers and suppliers
