The Opportunity
Job responsibilities
- Participate actively in team responsibility to support customers of Global Forensics with root cause determination and problem solving of tire forensic issues.
- Responsible for the chemical analysis aspect of tire forensic requests as compound reformulation and identification of foreign material via different spectroscopic and chromatographic analysis techniques.
- Reporting of observations and findings on analysis requests in comprehensive presentations/reports for documentation and knowledge retention.
- Troubleshoot, maintain, and calibrate laboratory equipment and analytical instruments as required to ensure efficient operations of the research labs.
Engineer Tire Forensics Job Requirements
Education
- The candidate should have a bachelors or masters degree in material science, polymer chemistry, analytical chemistry or related subjects or equivalent background.
Languages - The candidate must be fluent, both speaking and writing, in English.
- German and/or French will be considered as a strong asset.
Experience - Experience in FT-IR, GPC, NMR and thermoanalytical methods is required.
- Experience with polymers/elastomers is required.
- Demonstrated aptitude for working in a chemical laboratory environment is required.
- Knowledge in tire engineering, testing or materials is an advantage.
- Experience in optical or electron microscopy, AFM or other micro analytical techniques are an advantage.
IT, soft skills & others - Ability to tackle problems systematically.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in team.
- Sense of responsibility and urgency.
- Solid computer skills.
- Follows all corporate HSE lab safety and environmental work practices and policies.
