DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
The Engineering Department deliver the companies technical service to our global partners and project manage each installation in the UK. With PRINCE2 certified project managers, experienced electrical engineers and dedicated logistical support mean the department delivers an industry leading service.
JOB PURPOSE
Working with other specialist within the Global Technical Services department, product suppliers and external Consultants/Testing Houses the role is responsible to provide technical project management of on-going key projects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Functional effectiveness & management:
- Perform as one of the departments Project Management Specialists in regard to implementing strategic long-term goals, policies and procedures.
- Manage external specialist and suppliers in producing long term needs to accomplish the business objectives.
- Demonstrate experience and expertise in a variety of the field's, practices, and procedures needed within the department.
- Rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Assist in directing the activities necessary to keep the department operating seamlessly, efficiently, and effectively while ensuring compliance with established standards and policies.
Technical Project Manager/Engineer Job Requirements
MAIN JOB REQUIREMENTS AND PERSON SPECIFICATION
- The successful candidate will likely be an Electronic/Electrical Technical Project Manager/Engineer, or similar to a UPS/Inverter Drive Project Manager/Engineer who is able to demonstrate experience in the following areas:
- Forecasting accurate revenue projections and account plans and meeting targets and deadlines;
- Implementation of technical/electrical projects within a similar role;
- Management of project scoping phase, liaison with internal and external specialists and documentation of their requirements;
- Provision of input into the technical analysis of the project.
- The planning, allocating, organising and briefing internal and external team members;
- Participation in established technical processes such as Design Reviews and Product Conformance Testing;
- Proactive compliance with the Stage-Gate process with associated documentation and approvals, achieving targeted goals;
- Coordination and verification of documentation for design, testing and certification of products;
- Working with numerous stakeholders, keeping them well informed at every stage;
- Working hands on with technical teams during Product/System-level testing & verification;
- Management of effective cross-functional interaction between appropriate departments as required by individual assignments;
- Delivery of projects on budget and to a schedule;
Related competence in one or more of the following: - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and aptitude in building and managing relationships;
- Proactive communication skills ensuring all news, good or bad is dealt with in a timely way Ability to provide succinct and accurate reports and presentations;
- Ability to use appropriate project management techniques to ensure the successful completion of assigned projects as lead or as a participant;
Additional qualities required in one or more of the following:-
- Solid track record of accomplishments and success
- Demonstrated success in difficult decision making and problem resolution
- Can work without direct continual close supervision
- Knowledge of electrical/electronic product design, test and validation techniques
Qualifications Required: - Electrical & Electronic Engineering Degree or HND/HNC with relevant experience preferred.
