Space Applications Services performs space system and software engineering for the European Space Agency (ESA), National Space Agencies and the space industry. We are involved in international unmanned and manned spacecraft programmes. We require staff, wishing to join our team to work in a dynamic international environment for the following position:

Tasks and Responsibilities

The Safety Support Engineer will support the ESA PA & Safety Manager for designated project(s) in conducting, monitoring & assessing the implementation of the PA & Safety Programme.The work will be performed at the European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC) in Noordwijk, The Netherlands.

The position will include the following tasks and responsibilities:

• Establishing the PA&S requirements baseline for all elements of the project and this in compliance with the ESA general Product Assurance and Safety policy.
• Reviewing contractor’s plans, specifications and efforts proposed for the execution of the project PA&S programme.
• Monitoring project & PA status & identify relevant PA issues, including NCR / SPR / Waivers / Problems / Critical Items and systematically tracking all items.
• Assessing the implementation of PA&S requirements by contractors, participating in design and safety reviews and directing the necessary preventive or corrective actions.
• Representing ESA in the Boards established within the project for the disposition of Nonconformances / Failure Reviews, Test Reviews, etc..
• Guiding and monitoring the application and procurement of EEE parts, materials and processes and controlling implementation of applicable requirements.
• Monitoring the manufacturing, integration and test activities.
• Defining the formal acceptance requirements and conducting the Acceptance Reviews of all contractual deliverable items.
• PA for the verification, qualification, acceptance & delivery activities.
• The launch campaign.
• Participating in all project reviews, including safety reviews.

PA & Safety Support Enginee Job Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should have a University degree in a relevant discipline, minimum 6 years of experience in Product Assurance and Quality Assurance in the aerospace domain. Knowledge of Configuration Management or the implementation of Product Assurance within a quality system certified to ISO 9001 is an asset.

Furthermore, candidates are required to have following skills:

• Ability to cope with pressure.
• Fluent in English.
• High level of flexibility.
• Good organization skills, good communication skills.
