Statoil is an international energy company with operations in 36 countries. Building on 40 years of experience from oil and gas production on the Norwegian continental shelf, we are committed to accommodating the world's energy needs in a responsible manner, applying technology and creating innovative business solutions. Statoil is headquartered in Norway with 21,000 employees worldwide, and is listed on the New York and Oslo stock exchanges.
Development and Production Norway (DPN) will capture the full potential and ensure maximum value creation on the Norwegian continental shelf. We will therefore drive the opening of new acreage while maturing IOR and exploration prospects. Speed of delivery and cost improvements through standardisation and the repeated use of proven solutions will be key here. DPN will continue to be a preferred employer, within the Norwegian business community and among students, and will continue to develop our people in the best way possible. The Harstad office has nearly 300 employees from about 20 different countries. We work with exploration on the Norwegian continental shelf north of 62 degrees north, operations and development of the Norne field, early phase field development and drilling and well technology. We are responsible for the development of the new major discoveries in the Barents Sea - Skrugard and Havis, as well as petroleum technology at Snøhvit. From 2013, Statoil will establish a new operational area for Northern Norway that will be located in Harstad. In the beginning, the new operational area will be responsible for running the Norne and Snøhvit fields currently in production, together with the new Aasta-Hansteen field to be decided upon later this year.
At our office in Harstad, we have vacant positions as production engineer in Norne Petroleum Technology (Norne Petec).
The Norne field was discovered in 1992 and put into production in 1997. Norne Petec is responsible for the drainage of the Norne, Urd, Skuld and Alve fields. Norne is a mature field though the activity level remains high with a number of new infill wells to be drilled in the coming years, in addition to many well interventions. The Alve & Urd satellites are smaller, more recent developments, tied back to the main field. New wells are also planned for the satellites, and optimizing the drainage strategy with the given infrastructure is important. There are ongoing development projects at the Norne field - the satellite field Marulk (ENI operator) came on stream in April, whereas The Skuld field is under development with planned production startup early 2013. This initiates new challenges within reservoir and production management and process challenges onboard the Norne FPSO.
The production unit in Norne Petec is responsible for production management through the Norne FPSO, providing challenging and exciting tasks by use of models and analytical methods for optimizing production from all the fields. The main purpose of the position as production engineer is to have a proactive attitude and to carry out activities related to production technology.
