Project Description
E-bikes and e-scooters are appearing more in the streets, these are green alternatives vs. polluting cars in the city. There is a trend for higher voltage electrical motors up to 48V which deliver more power with a compact battery. Melexis designs IC’s for high-voltage driving of electrical BLDC motors, called pre-drivers for the 6 powerfets stage, and invests in the development of advanced power electronics and embedded software solutions. This project aims at realizing a complete demo with advanced high-voltage power pcb and embedded software on the latest ARM controller for a powerful e-bike with sensorless drive and torque control.
Project Goals
Deliver a working demo of a 48V e-bike test-setup with Melexis BLDC electronics and sensorless drive software. Technical challenge is the implementation of our advanced sensorless silent sine drive and torque algorithms on the new lowest-cost generation of ARM microcontrollers to deliver a small-size, high-performance, low-cost solution.
