German Consortium for Translational Cancer Research (DKTK) Job Description

We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher to join our international and interdisciplinary team in an attractive scientific environment at the German Cancer Research Center in Heidelberg, Germany. The goal of the project is to elucidate pathomechanisms in pediatric tumors across different entities based on next-generation sequencing approaches and comparison of tumor and germline data. The sequencing data are evaluated for possible diagnostic/prognostic and therapeutic relevance of the findings in cooperation with clinical partners. We expect that 1/3 of all newly diagnosed pediatric tumors in Germany will be processed within the project, as part of the DKTK research network.

You should be highly motivated, enthusiastic about science and hold a Ph.D. in bioinformatics or biology with a strong background in informatics/statistics (ideally experience with sequence analysis tools) or a related discipline 

• Knowledge of, and preferably experience with, handling large data sets, knowledge of molecular genetics and understanding of lab methods, knowledge of genome sequencing concepts.
• Solid programming and UNIX background
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
