NanoTemper Technologies GmbH develops, produces and markets innovative, high quality instruments for bio-medical research. The products are based on an NanoTemper's unique and proprietary technology termed Microscale Thermophoresis (MST).
After successfull introduction of the first Monolith NT.115 in 2010, the company, with headquater in Munich, Germany, is rapidly expanding globally. NanoTemper instruments are used by hundreds of scientists on 4 continents. In December 2011 the company introduced a new instrument, the Monolith NT.LabelFree.
The MST-technology was developed at the Biophysics Department at the University Munich. MST allows fast, immobilization-free and label-free quantification of biomolecule interactions with high sensitivity and accuracy as well as low sample consumption. The term Microscale Thermophoresis describes the directed movement of molecules along a microscopic temperature gradient. The thermophoretic movement is dependent on the size, charge and hydration shell of molecules. It allows to measure all kinds of biomolecule interactions ranging from protein-ion, protein-compound/fragment to protein-macromolecular complex interactions (e.g. ribosomes and liposomes). Worldwide NanoTemper is the only provider of this patented technology, which has major advantages over existing technologies and provides an important add-on for academic and biopharmaceutical research.
