Resident Engineer Automotive Job Description

In general:
Responsible for design and development of products for one specific customer.
Roles & Responsibilities:
• Technical support for customer and new project enquiry and development (specification review, technology selection, test specification, samples, technical offers, etc).
• Identify development project schedule mismatches and communicate & escalate within the organizations.
• Ensure a good communication between customer engineers and own engineering
• Understand technology trend at customer and future market requirement (Develop customer application know how)
• Build and expand relationships with relevant people within customer engineering
• Influence in the early phase customer specification and decision roadmaps in the interest of the organizations.
• Initiate advanced engineering collaboration with customers.
• Support PQT in technical changes submission to customer.
• Prepare technical / technology presentation for customers.
• Share gained insight into customer project strategies with other departments (marketing, sales, etc.)

Resident Engineer Automotive Job Requirements

• Strong engineering background
• Deep understanding of product and development processes
• Sound understanding of powertrain applications and ability to deepen it
• Self motivated
• Good communications skills and proactive attitude towards sharing information within the organizations.
• Basic understanding of supplier selection processes within the automotive industries and ways to influence customer´s choices.
• Willingness to spend 2-3 days per week in Germany and 2-3 days per week in Belgium.
