Additionally the Marketing Authorisation Application (MAA) for ocriplasmin has been accepted for review in Europe.
ThromboGenics signed a strategic partnership with Alcon (Novartis) for the commercialization of ocriplasmin outside the United States. Under this agreement, ThromboGenics could receive up to a total of €375 million in up-front and milestone payments, plus an attractive level of royalties on Alcon’s net sales of ocriplasmin. ThromboGenics and Alcon intend to share the costs equally of developing ocriplasmin for a number of new vitreoretinal indications.
ThromboGenics is also developing TB-403, a novel antibody therapeutic, in collaboration with BioInvent International, for cancer and non-cancer uses, including ophthalmic indications.

Job description
The Medical Sciences Manager is responsible for integrating scientific expertise and knowledge to identify and liaise with experts in the fields of interest of ThromboGenics. This field-based professional is responsible for serving as the region’s medical scientific expert and will interface with experts in the academic community to better understand the clinical setting (i.e. disease) in which ThromboGenics intends to or is operating in. The Medical Sciences Manager is expected to provide in-depth scientific, clinical and educational support to the medical community, and when needed internal groups such as clinical, sales and marketing teams. Each Medical Sciences Manager should have an in-depth understanding of the therapeutic areas, including the data generated on its compounds, that ThromboGenics serves, and the marketplace both nationally and regionally that are of interest to the company.
TERRITORY – REPORTING LINE:
This is a field based position in France, to cover the South-East region of France.
This person will report to the Global Head of Medical Affairs.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Build solid and credible relationships with the medical community on ThromboGenics behalf and cultivate key thought leaders and product advocates in the Academic and Community settings.
- Participate in coordinating and conducting peer-to-peer interactions and medical presentations, and serve as a reviewer for independent research initiatives and publications.
- Be well versed in the current therapeutic areas in which ThromboGenics specializes, including their disease processes and therapeutic management.
- Provide overall medical / scientific support to the regional sales team through the dissemination of pertinent educational, scientific, and clinical information on diseases and its treatment, where appropriate for training purposes only.
- Develop relationships with local medical thought leaders (physicians, pharmacists and nurses) whose opinions and treatment regimens influence the practice of their colleagues.
- Identify and manage unsolicited requests for research study proposals that would provide new information for the appropriate treatment of disease and the optimal utilization of the company's products.
- Disseminate to physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals state-of-the-art research and medical concepts related to the treatment and management of diseases of interest to the company.
- Relay Medical Information requests through appropriate channels within the client’s organization.
- Represent the client at specific continuing educational events / programs, medical meetings and conventions.
- Partner with the commercial organization to support the client and understanding of the disease state within the assigned region. Partner with the Training Department to educate the healthcare professionals on current medical / scientific information.
- Strongly adheres to high scientific standards as well as corporate and regulatory compliance in all activities, including those related to clinical trials, scientific exchange, scientific presentations, responses to unsolicited requests for information, and other interactions with Key Opinion Leaders (KOL’s).
Medical Sciences Manager France (region of Lyon) Job Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
- Doctoral degree in a health sciences related field, such as PharmD, PhD, MD or PsyD.
- Min 3+ years of healthcare related experience (clinical practice, research, academic or managed markets) and a thorough grasp of the pharmaceutical industry.
- Knowledge of the current treatment landscape of eye/retinal diseases and of the associated key opinion leaders is highly desirable.
- Strong relationship-building skills, particularly with the medical community
- Demonstrated expertise in drug information communication.
- Demonstrated project management ability.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of EMA requirements.
- Established and successful track record as a Scientific Medical Liaison or equivalent.
- Strong administrative management skills with proven initiative and strong time/territory management skills.
- Team-oriented with the ability work effectively with others.
- Ability to contribute to and support the company’s growth and value creation strategies.
- Demonstrated understanding of product and technical knowledge in client’s target therapeutic areas and new products / therapeutic areas as the client expands.
- Travel approximately 60-70% of the time.
- Valid driver’s license in good standing.
