Purpose of the job :
- Leading and coordinating of the technical part of multi-functional cable related projects (technical responsibility)
- Facilitate team working / support team members.
- Assist / support the program line manager in evaluating new projects opportunities / assigning projects.
- Specify, select and approve cable designs, optimized for integration with optical components (closures, connectors) or optimized for installations in the distribution and drop part of the network.
- Specify, select and approve cable accessories (cable clamps for aerial cable, mounting to wall,…)
- Approves packaging of cable
Main result areas – key responsibilities :Ensure the delivery of projects within agreed deliverables as functional and performance requirements.

- Technical support activities towards Product management and Operations
- Keep track and give feedback of ADPAC cable activities
- Constantly improve required skills and tools for most efficient way of working within the department.
Means and ways to realize these goals: - Use R&D tools
- Work in teams and use correct technical interfaces to realize projects.
- Set-up test plan + coordinate testing for new ideas / products.
- Apply all skills for product design, engineering and development of products.
- Solving of technical hurdles within the project by using internal and external technologies.
Mechanical Engineer Job Requirements
Education:
- Master/Bachelor in electro mechanical engineering, or equivalent by experience.
Experience: - 5 – 10 years in fiber components and enclosures, (in R&D or engineering environment)
- Experience with project work
- DFE :Design for Experiments
- FMEA; Failure Mode and Effect Analyses
- Relevant 6 sigma tools
- Experience in concept try-out : hands-on lab test set-up + prototyping
Knowledge: - (Basic technical knowledge of products within the business unit).
- Detailed knowledge of mechanical design techniques, fiber optic cable technologies
- Engineering plastics, metals, material process techniques, moulding/extrusion
- Familiar with cable standards (International Fiber & Cable Standards like IEC and ITU)
- Knowledge of relevant R&D engineering tools.
- MS-office.
- Languages: good working knowledge English (Dutch is an asset).
