Unit Description
The Project Management Office (PMO) is responsible for the successful delivery of the organizations Work Programme (WP). This includes all aspects of its creation, managing change and achieving work to the required budgets. The PMO is also responsible for all aspects of formal governance to ensure that work is undertaken in a controlled and auditable manner and to the satisfaction of its Customers.
Job Description
As Senior Project Manager Finance you are responsible for the planning, management and direction of projects involving multidisciplinary teams and possibly 3rd party resources. This includes management of all stakeholder interfaces. You will engage on projects from the initial idea until to completion of the project aftercare, ensuring delivery to time, quality and cost via the application of existing Project Management (PM) procedures to all projects.
You will work closely with the Business and other ITS units to ensure Customer’s needs are fully met in terms of any quality/functional trade offs against time/cost. You are expected to provide leadership and develop continuous learning approaches to further improve team building and people motivation.
You will review and influence project progress, ensuring that this is compatible with the business and commercial needs of all stakeholders reporting formally at OPB governance level as required.
In short, the role covers provision of day/day management of the Project Team, leading of all formal governance meetings, application and development of the PM Framework and delivery of Customer Satisfaction. PMO consists of a team of Project Coordinators, Project Managers and Programme Managers based in Cardiff, Amsterdam and Cologne. The Senior Project Manager reports to one of the Programme Managers.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
• A proven track record in IT project management or be experienced in holding a similar role as described above.
• Must have strong personal and team building skills to lead and influence others – experience in managing contributions from disparate teams, both in location and organisational terms.
• Experience in developing, implementing and managing the application of project Management procedures – keeping project members up to date with progress; creating, holding and maintaining project plans; ‘walking the job’.
• Able to work confidently with senior business representatives and colleagues at different levels and be responsible for the project budget.
• Familiar with project methods (Prince II) and procedures and skilled at project planning and reporting.
• A structured and logical approach and the ability to think and plan ahead. Plans will include budgets for work, impact assessments and scoping statements. Risks will be managed with mitigation plans to lessen probability of occurrence and / or lessen their impact.
• Able to provide management and coordination to the successful delivery of projects against plan and take any necessary corrective actions escalating issues where senior management action is required via the Programme Manager.
• Ability to travel is a must, as is the ability to work flexibly.
• Graduate with a good Bachelors or Masters degree is preferred.
• Experience with Prince II or equivalent project management methodology
• At least 3 years working experience as project manager, ability to effectively manage the efficient use of resource, and can apply a disciplined and analytical approach to problem solving
• Experienced with the MS Office toolset, specifically Excel, PowerPoint and MS Project
• Must have knowledge of financial and accounting processes, an accounting background is a pre.
• Must have knowledge of Oracle E-Business Suite V11.5.10 and V.12, modules GL, AR, AP and Collections
• Must have a proven track-record in implementation of Oracle E-Business Suite V.11 and preferably V.12 as well.
• Fluent in English (verbal and written). Other languages are an advantage
