Senior Vendor Engineer Job Description

Our client a global leader in its field of engineering currently has a requirement for a Senior Vendor / Cost Project Engineer based in Galway.

Responsibilities:

• Technical lead on a team comprising members from purchasing, supplier quality and business streams responsible for all aspects of supplier management.
• Demonstrate technical leadership skills in the category management. Communicate effectively to all stakeholders and receive buy-in from customers. Responsible for achieving business objectives of the team in terms of Quality, Cost and Service.
• Lead investigation of component/material quality issues as they arise - work with quality, supply chain, manufacturing and suppliers to resolve issues and to disposition product.
• Develop new supply sources with purchasing team - qualify components to specified parameters.
• Contributes to the development, maintenance and improvements of supplier management policies and procedures.
• Provides guidance to other functional areas in applying supplier management system requirements
• Promoting the Quality System within the Supply Base - working with Purchasing, Supplier Quality Engineering, Receiving Inspection & the Value Streams to ensure that components meet our requirements.
• Ensuring that adequate corrective action is put in place by suppliers and monitor effectiveness of same.
• Support supplier quality rating to a level which allows certification or dock to stock programs to be implemented.
• Lead/work on Process Improvement teams relating to component usage or design.
• Drive value improvement programs with suppliers & support validation plans for new & substitute materials/suppliers
• Work closely with suppliers globally and to execute Value Engineering/Component Engineering opportunities to take cost out of product. Develop a plan for year-on-year cost reduction.
• Assist in the negotiation process with suppliers by providing specific category technical expertise.

Senior Vendor Engineer Job Requirements

• Bachelor's degree (HETAC level 8) and minimum 5 years relevant work experience.
• You will possess excellent communication skills and be looking for a challenging role.
• Demonstrated track record in development of new supply sources will be a distinct advantage.
• Project Management skills to manage supplier/material changes within the  Company & with the Suppliers.
• Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt certification is desired.
• Lean working knowledge is desired.
• Ability to work with minimum supervision and in a high fast paced environment
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
