External Job Advert: A number of Electrical Engineering vacancies are available to support a major AMEC client in the North West of England in the Barrow area.
This work will involve working to defence and nuclear codes and standards as well as National and International standards with the potential for responsibility for significant programmes / schemes of work.
Suitable candidates must be willing to work in our client offices in the North West area (Barrow) for periods of time / secondments of 3 – 6 months, with the likely option to extend for suitable candidates or to be based at AMEC’s Booths Park offices following an initial period at Barrow. An initial period at AMEC’s Booths Park offices may also be available for induction and familiarisation.
Travel and subsistence allowances will be available for the right candidates with the option to work a compressed (4 day) week to allow time to travel on a weekly basis.
There are a number of opportunities for various aspects of electrical engineering work including (but not limited to) the following;
General Electrical Engineering:
• Power Systems – The design and delivery of LV (<1kV) and DC Generation and Distribution Systems.
• Power Systems Modelling and Analysis.
• Determining requirements and design standards.
• Writing of technical reports and technical specifications.
• Producing outline functional system diagrams.
• Preparing design calculations to demonstrate designs meet performance requirements.
• Undertake technical development studies to verify compliance with design requirements.
• Undertake design reviews and presentations to customers.
• Working across project groups to ensure designs meet the required operability, safety, security and supportability requirements.
• Work with Client supply chain and equipment suppliers.
• Attendance at equipment Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs)
• Analysis of FAT and commissioning results when required.
• Support to dockside installation and commissioning teams when required.
Electro Magnetic Compatibility:
• Modelling EM threats to equipment using cable routing management tools and software tools.
• Assess boat Electrical Equipment for EM suitability and in particular its susceptibility failure modes.
• Working with equipment manufacturers to address EM issues in a cost effective manner.
• Using a variety of specialised EMC test equipment and conduct EMC testing to Def Stan 59-411.
• Preparing Test Plans and reports and collate deliverable EMC documentation.
• Preparing calculations to demonstrate that the EM environment is safe.
• Knowledge of Product Safety Management, FMECA and of UK Defence Standards would be beneficial.
