Postdoctoral Position in the Laboratory of Renewable Energy Sciences and Engineering
The Laboratory for Renewable Energy Sciences and Engineering ( http://lrese.epfl.ch/ ) at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) has an opening for a postdoctoral position in the field of modeling photoelectrochemical (PEC) systems as part of the newly funded 4-year Nano-Tera program: Solar Hydrogen Integrated Nano Electrolysis (SHINE).
The project goal is to develop a system demonstrator for generating hydrogen from concentrated sunlight using multi-junction solar cells to split water.
More details can be found at: http://lapd.epfl.ch/page-88781-en.html .
We offer a challenging and fun work environment in collaboration with Swiss academic (EPFL/EMPA) and industrial partners (CSEM, Michelin) as part of the Nano-Tera project effort.
Requirements:
The successful applicant will be primarily responsible for modeling the integrated system and providing guidelines for the successful design of a PEC demonstrator. The system components include concentrating optics, photovoltaic cells, microfluidics, and electrochemical catalysts. Therefore, we encourage applicants with a computational approach and a broad background in radiation transport, semiconductor physics, micro-channels, and electrochemistry. Applicants are expected to have finished, or are about to finish their Ph.D. degrees.
Starting date: April 1, 2013
Application:
The application letter including curriculum vitae with a list of publications, statement of research, contact details for 3 references should be sent via email to Sophia Haussener
