Sr Design Engineer Job Description

Introduction
ASML US, LP brings together the most creative minds in science and technology to develop lithography machines that are key to producing faster, cheaper, more energy-efficient microchips. We design, develop, integrate, market and service these advanced machines, which enable our customers - the world’s leading chipmakers - to reduce the size and increase the functionality of their microchips, which in turn leads to smaller, more powerful consumer electronics. Our headquarters are in Veldhoven, the Netherlands, and we have 18 office locations around the United States including main offices in Wilton, CT, Chandler, AZ, San Jose, CA and San Diego, CA.

Job Mission

• Creates budgets and definition for new tools and creates EDS/EPS at function level. or multiple complex building blocks.
• Performs verification of EDS and EPS content.
• Uses expertise to inform / influence PDM, Prg SE.
• Interfaces with other projects and SE.
• Technical deputy to PL.
• Steers roadmap at competence level with GL (Manager 2).
• Takes decisions within team related to own complex tasks and direct interfacing modules on project level and occassionally indirect through function aspects.
• Plays vital role in program integration.
• Is able to manage (motivate, steer) small technical teams.

• Has sufficient overview to define and initiate tasks to realize function or complex building blocks.
• Has autonomous planning for team.
• Makes proposals for problem solving of bottle necks, initiates actions and discuss with PL.
• Technical team leader. Contributes to development /change of function, responsibility for results of sub modules.
• Is able to steer development during integration phase.
• Uses expertise to inform PDM, Prg SE.
• Plays active contributing role in defining road map for own competence.
• Technical team leader / coach, motivate, inspires.
• Delegates tasks within own function.
• Is able to give direction irrespective of technical certainties for complex building block.
• Defines, plans and prioritizes tasks and follow up on results for function.
• Balances an agreed number of tasks, where the overview and responsibility is maintained.
• Has to manage many technical uncertainties at function level and needs creative solutions to solve uncertainties.

Education
PHD or equivalent experience.
 
Experience

• Has basic system / extensive function knowledge.
• Gives input for roadmap.
• Is recognized as expert within department and program.
• Breakdown complex technical or tool problems.
• Has basic understanding of interaction with other modules.
• Looks at problems from different angles, finds multiple solutions to choose from.
