Job Mission
As part of the mechanical architecture department, you’ll be involved as a Mechanical Constructions Lead Engineer in the process of continuously upgrading ASML’s chip-making machines. No two ASML machines are the same, and the mission of your role will be to focus on customer needs within the guidelines and constraints of manufacturability, serviceability, maintainability, and reliability. You’ll be at the center of creating and finding new solutions with your team members and other (senior) engineers to help the machine to meet both its performance and industrialization requirements.
Job Description
As aMechanical Constructions Lead Engineer you’ll have the broad overview of (a part of) the machine and help to bring it all together. You’ll draw up the plans, and see those plans take physical shape, working around and solving problems along the way. It’s a great opportunity to develop yourself in a professional environment. By working with so many highly-talented mechanical (senior) engineers, you’ll learn new skills every day.Your daily activities will include layout studies, finding solutions for module or system changes. You’ll join layout reviews and should be able to see the bigger picture, identifying cross-project layout issues and coming up with solutions to fix them. You will be part of project management level reviews a with a focus on aspects of industrialization (such as manufacturability, serviceability, modularity) by making sure that projects stay within their volume, mass and tolerance budgets
Education
A bachelor or master’s degree in mechanical engineering or other relevant field of study. ExperienceBeing successful as a Mechanical Constructions Lead Engineer (Large Frames) you have a solid background in mechanical engineering, milling and welding, construction principles. Essential will be your knowledge around dynamics and thermos behavior upon your FEM analysis background. You are familiar with managing layouts of complex (sub) systems and have experience with industrialization of complex systems. Working in requirement teams and be able to get the best out of them is part of your background. We work with Siemens NX and that is also part of your basics. Personal skillsYou are an open-minded and proactive person. You’re able to see the bigger picture, and can communicate on different levels. You like to be in the middle of the development, and you’re a real team player with an open attitude to challenge others, help them to be successful, and guide them to deliver the best results.

The R&D department in ASML (called the ‘development and engineering’ department) is responsible for the specification, design and engineering of ASML products. You’ll be a part of the mechanical construction sub-department, which is responsible for realizing the (Large Frame) System. Developing the system is done in a structured way by using the whole V-cycle so that the total system can be built, transported, installed and serviced in a safe and efficient way.
