Industrialization Architect Job Description

Introduction
Do you enjoy the challenges of improving the manufacturability and serviceability of complex and advanced lithography equipment? Do you have a strong vision on availability of litho-machines in the field and are you known for your great organizational and communication skills? Then you will successfully fulfill the position of Industrialization Architect in the Mechanical Architecture (MA) department!

Job Mission
The Industrialization Architect contributes to the development of products by specifying, integrating and verifying the industrialization requirements for defined machine functions of the litho-machines and by proactively improving proposed designs and processes based on field data. The Industrialization Architect acts as the technical lead from an industrialization point of view, from the early design phase until the use of the machine at customer site.

Job Description

  • Translate the overall function design into an architecture that meets these requirements of cycle time, availability and cost of goods, align these requirements with your counter parts, create and balance the budget towards the different users in the function and communicate to, and where necessary negotiation between, these users.
  • Pro-actively seek out field data and knowledge from: external literature/research, supply chain, equipment, quality and manufacturing engineers. Use field data analysis to define improvement proposals on the industrialization aspects. Use data based models to predict the performance on cycle time, cost of goods and availability.
  • Analyze and explain gaps between expected and actual performance and give direction for solutions. Maintain a lessons learned database for future design and process improvements. Document and present the current status and predicted results to projects and the wider organization.
  • Oversee implementation of industrialization requirements and budgets in the conceptual and detail designs. Verify and validate the system performance based on cycle time measurements during system integration and field feedback.

Industrialization Architect Job Requirements

Education
Master degree (or Bachelor degree with experience) within Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Physics, Electrical or other similar education.

Experience
Preferably:

  • >5 years of experience in a service or production environment with high tech products and complex production processes
  • proven track record in relation to industrialization, serviceability or availability and specifically system reliability, diagnostics and recovery.
  • experience in analysis on (new) designs to define the critical areas with guidance for required improvements
Personal skills
  • Excellent analytical skills and “helicopter view”
  • Able to influence without power and speak up
  • Self-propelling and entrepreneurial attitude
  • Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal and team building skills
  • Perseverance in situations when confront with push back
Context of the position
The goal of Mechanical Architecture - Manufacturing and Equipment Engineering is to industrialize ASML products while development is going on, embedding a system’s industrial performance (cycle time, reliability, availability, and cost) into the specifications and early in the design phase. This means thinking about the manufacturing environment, to the use and maintenance at the customer site, and to take into consideration lessons learned from the past. If we focus on product industrialization early, we can prevent most of the manufacturing and quality problems in our factory as well as at the suppliers and even improve our delivery time. MA’s role is to leverage concurrent engineering and to do things in parallel, working as a team with D&E, CS, Manufacturing, Sourcing – every department involved in the Product Generation Process (PGP). The results will never be exclusive of MA: our goal is the success of the Programs, and we want to contribute as part of the team to the achievement of the Program targets, from industrialization aspects to time to market. The holder of this position reports to the Group Leader Mechanical Architecture - Manufacturing and
Equipment Engineering.
