Production Manager Job Description

Description
As Production Manager you will lead and manage the workforce in the plant with clear policies, guidelines and targets to ensure the optimal Product Quality, Employee Satisfaction and Customer Delight. With a focus on target delivery the production manager manages the daily performance of the plant on all relevant KPI. You will be budget holder for the number of associates within the plant. Of course your vision of the plant will support Lightyears profit and growth objectives. Furthermore you will support the development, implementation, communication and application of Lightyears policies and programs covering KPI based reporting and attainment of objectives. In this role you will report directly to our operations manager.

You will focus on the facility in Helmond, with the intent to act as a halo plant for all future Lightyear facilities. The plant will start as a development facility, building prototypes and validating engineering assumptions, creating the final production process and logistics flow to be ready for production in 2020.

Within the role there are 2 distinct tasks: Create a prototyping facility to develop Lightyear One (LY01) and transition this facility into a production facility for small series production. As production manager you will:

• Create an excellent working environment
• Drive the QCD targets through a structured set of meetings
• Setup the Operational Excellence roadmap together with the Operations Manager and align it with production priorities
• Create a balanced KPI system
• Obtain necessary licenses and certifications
• Create and drive sustainability KPI
• Be responsible for line uptime and efficiency
• Optimize people and shift planning
• Setup a MES system
• Facilitate the creation of a service area to repair and upgrade vehicles.
• Coach Engineering and Operations by setting DFMA (Design For Manufacturing and Assembly) guidelines
• Align with MT members and deal with strategic production question
• Advise and develop senior managers and complex teams in leadership competences
• Be able to facilitate teams in their own designated work area
• Drive team development as well as personal leadership within the team

• Masters degree in Engineering related with BA with 15+ years of relevant experience

• Extensive experience as member of a Management Team
• In depth knowledge about risk assessment tools such as FMEA, Six Sigma & Lean Techniques, ISO/TS
• In depth knowledge about Word, Powerpoint, Excel and ERP systems
• In depth knowledge of KPI based reporting and development thereof
• Strong skills as a people manager
• Knowledge of production and improvement processes;
• Drive to realize the Lightyear mission
• Fluent in English and Dutch
• Ability to work independently
• Availability for 40 hours a week
