ASML is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of chip-making equipment.
Our vision is to enable affordable microelectronics that improve the quality of life.
To achieve this, our mission is to invent, develop, manufacture and service advanced technology for high-tech lithography, metrology and software solutions for the semiconductor industry.
ASML's guiding principle is continuing Moore's Law towards ever smaller, cheaper, more powerful and energy-efficient semiconductors. This results in increasingly powerful and capable electronics that enable the world to progress within a multitude of fields, including healthcare, technology, communications, energy, mobility, and entertainment.
System Focus Performance - Physics Design Engineer
Introduction
If you have the strength of personality to take ownership of a problem and create a vision of how to solve It – a vision that also inspires others - then the ASML Focus Performance department is your ideal environment for personal development and professional growth.
Job Mission
As part of a team that provides the specification and delivery of focus solutions for DUV or EUV systems, you will be the “right hand” partner and advisor to the System Designer.
Of course, your professional knowledge and expertise will be used to optimize the focus stability and uniformity of new modules during specification and testing, but your personal talents will also be urgently required during the system integration phase. That’s when deviations in expected system performance levels emerge, after the separate functional modules have been designed, developed and delivered.
During the integration phase you will need to combine your creative problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking to develop innovative solutions that get around, break through and/or solve disturbances quickly, without impacting on projected budgets and delivery times.
To achieve these solutions you will need to prioritize and set your own goals. You will need imagination and creativity. And you will need to be assertive while also being a team player; that’s because you must stay focused on a problem’s root cause without distraction, while also requesting knowledge and help from other specialists within the ASML community.
Job Description
You will design, create, test and integrate complex focus solutions within the boundaries defined by the system specifications, budgeted costs and planning. But above all, you will use your leadership and teamwork skills to solve problems and optimize focus system performance at the integration phase.
Main responsibilities:
- To enable enhanced machine focus - by integrating, analyzing and supporting the design and application of complex system performance and (sub)system functionality
- To specify the necessary focus requirements, test methodology, and functionality within (part of) the system, in order to achieve the desired system performance
- To deliver customized focus solutions that address specific usage problems and how the customer uses the focus application in its own Fab set-up
Education
Master degree in (applied) Physics, Electrical engineering, Aerospace Engineering or (applied) mathematics with preference in applicable working experience.
Experience
In depth theoretical and experimental experience.
Personal skills
Creativity, initiative, discipline and team spirit. Strong analytical ability with a pragmatic and pro-active attitude. Good communicational skills and good command of the English language.
