Our International Technical Development Programme here at Tata Steel offers you the unique opportunity of working and participating in our Fast Track development programme.
As a Technical Project Engineer on the 2 year programme, you will be challenged in your work from the very beginning. You will have direct responsibility within a team of professionals and have the opportunity to make a concrete contribution to our operational processes and improvement programs. You will be a direct partner for senior management. We offer an exciting rotational programme in which you will execute projects within 4 different business units within Tata Steel Europe.
You will be part of an international group of colleagues whereby you will develop your skills both personally and professionally. On completion of the programme, you will have developed a broad view of the business and built an international network within the company. You will progress into a role within either manufacturing, technical or engineering in line with your development stage and located at the same place from where you started your journey.
What will you do exactly?
We have identified key projects for you that are really important to our business, but we also expect you to take the initiative to identify improvements. In order to be able to carry out these process improvements, you would liaise with relevant stakeholders on site.
The great thing about this opportunity, is not only do you get to identify and talk about the improvement opportunities, but you will also implement them. Throughout the Programme, you will lead a number of complex, technical projects aimed at improving product quality, cost control and increasing customer satisfaction.

Is this you?
In order to be considered for this opportunity, you must have the following:
- A master degree in one of the following disciplines: Metallurgy, Applied Physics, Chemical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other technical studies.
- Strong communication and influencing skills
- Team working capabilities and high personal initiative
- Experience abroad
- Willingness to work for approximately 6 months at different production areas in The Netherlands, United Kingdom, Sweden or France
- Work permit for Europe
- Both French and English professional language skills in speaking and writing
- Maximum of 3 years of working experience

What do we offer?
Our Programme is pretty demanding, but you’ll get a lot from us in return:
- You will receive mentoring by a senior manager, giving you access to a wealth of experience and rapidly expanding your network
- In addition to your day to day guidance of you will receive peer group coaching and you will be assigned a Talent Manager, who will meet you on regular basis to discuss your performance and development.
- You will be trained alongside other members of the international programme.
- You will work at at least 4 departments within the Downstream operations hub ( Packaging, Cogent, Tubes and Colors)
- You will learn first-hand from your colleagues on what it’s like to work in our Downstream Operations.
- The programme consists of on-the-job training as well as a structured training and development plan which will not only enhance your professional capabilities but also your personal skills.
- After two years, you will be ready for the next step of your journey at the department where you started with us. Together with your Talent Manager, we will identify your next challenge within our Downstream Operations organisation.

Tata Steel
Packaging is a leading manufacturer of high quality packaging steels supplying the can-making industry worldwide. The business unit headquarters is based in IJmuiden, Netherlands, with other production plants in the Netherlands (IJmuiden), South Wales (Trostre) and Belgium (Duffel).
Tubes is a leading manufacturer of hot finished and cold formed welded steel tubular products. We supply a wide range of hot finished and cold formed steel tubular products. We are customer focused and all of our manufacturing plants supply products for more than one sector. The three main market sectors for the Tubes business are: automotive, construction structures and Energy. The business units are situated in Oosterhout in the Netherlands and Corby in the UK.
Cogent Power is a global supplier of electrical steels and part of Tata Steel. Our business works closely with customers at a local level to support their business development through optimisation of logistics and slitting to reduce inventory as well as continuous product development and innovation.
Finally
Colors is an international business manufacturing pre-finished steel for the building envelope, domestic appliances and manufactured goods markets. Umbrella names specific to individual markets encompass our products. Colorcoat® for the building envelope, Motiva® for domestic appliances Advantica™ for manufactured goods. Additional services focusing on flexibility and rapid delivery are available with selected products. Situated in France in Maubeuge and in UK in Shotton.
