Oracle Applications DBA Job Description

The Role
This position is based in the DBA Team, which comprises eight DBA’s located throughout the Global organisation, and the role reports directly into the DBA Manager.
The Database Administrator’s role is to design, install, monitor, maintain, secure, upgrade, integrate, backup and performance tune Oracle and potentially also SQL Server databases.
 
Responsibilities:

• Define, plan and implement database, Oracle Applications and Oracle Fusion Middleware installs and upgrades
• Manage, control and implement database or applications patches
• Install and configure relevant network components to ensure database access and establish appropriate end-user access control levels
• Configure systems for use in development, testing and production roles
• Adhere to change control and testing processes for modifications to Oracle Applications or databases
• Write and maintain documentation for relevant processes and procedures
• Perform proactive monitoring and maintenance using system management tools and custom scripts
• Respond to and resolve database access and performance issues
• Monitor, optimize and allocate physical data storage for database systems
• Proactive monitoring of database and application system backups, including regular test restores
• Work with all areas of IT to ensure that data migration, database cloning, imports and exports are correctly implemented to support project work

Oracle Applications DBA Job Requirements

Required Experience

• Ideally, candidates will hold a degree in a relevant Computer Sciences discipline.
• At least five years of experience as an Oracle Applications DBA
• Demonstrable experience with Oracle E-Business Suite application
• Knowledge of SQL Server and MySQL database technologies is advantageous
• Strong communications skills
• Any European language skills are advantageous
